Not for the land locked

Away and I am not

So I am taking over the boat while Cielle hangs in no snow land, (Where there really should be snow) but I think the world has pretty well slowed down, truely. I guess the earth isn't quite up to speed with the atomic clock so they need to add a leap second to this year. So forget about your New Years Bash it won't be truely the new year until after that extra added second.
Now that its been 9 days since we picked my grandma up from the airport it is time now again to drop her off there tomorrow, that'll be fun or at least until my dad rushes home to get back in time to watch the duck bowl game. Whatever dad.

Band Name

So, I recently thought of the best name for a melodic death metal band. Are you ready for this? Here we go: BLOOD SUGAR!

Portland

Fun fun fun.
On Saturday I invited Cielle to join some youth and me to go to Portland and do things. The plan was to shop and see Christmas lights, and that we did. First on the list was ride a bus from here to there, and all the way I listened to a bunch of stuff and grew to like a couple of songs. We were dropped off by the bus man on a small back alley street and Cielle's mix lasted all the way from Corvallis, sweet deal. Luckily we were close enough to Powells that people wanted to walk there. To the group it was only a bathroom stop, but to Cielle and I it was a chance to look at some books and at art. I don't see how Powells could only be a bathroom stop. From there we walked in the bitter wind to Pioneer Plaza, passing a dozen max trains as we walked. In some places there were splotches of slick ice. In the Plaza we weren't allowed to wander alone without an adult, in case we were, a church group, going to shoplift, you know. So this lady walked with Cielle and I. I really didn't know her, but she laughed at us anyway, she just laughed, but she did buy us a chocolate marshmallow. (Here!) After this fine adventure it was to the waterfront for waterfront fun in the frozen air. It was beautiful but cold, we walked for a long time until reaching the Saturday market, where we could walk around without an adult. Here Cielle bought her shirt from a nice vender (Here!) It was almost five and again through harsh wind we walked to Old World Pizza, four blocks up. We walked in and got the greatest seat next to the window, where a few bikes were placed. The bartender was great, he had a brightishly-dull orange hat with a feather, and an old suit, probably, and I believe I saw, a pocket watch coming out of his vest pocket. Cielle and I were the only ones to order a pizza without meat, and I think we got the better of the deal. A Pesto base with olives on top. After taking a few pictures and one of a biker that didn't turn out so great (ehm: Here!) We left on the bus to the Grotto for a fanciful light show! After that, ha, no I'll tell you about it. While there along with the 19-degree wind chill we went to a petting zoo saw a baby Jesus in a manger and Dr. Suess land (Here!) we also heard a choir (running water in song form). We were the first to get on the bus and tell the man in charge of the whole junket that we wanted to go to James Mercer's house, not if we really knew the location but whatever. He almost consented but he actually was just telling the bus driver how to leave. Damn! Ah well next time. I missed the freezing rain back home, and its going to be in the 40's for the next week, what bull.

Tuesday again I was in Portland to meet my Grandma at PDX. The crazy thing is she can't walk, so this lady who sat next to her helped her to the exit, the lady was from Corvallis! Sma-hall world.

the coolest thing ever and some other stuff.

So, it's been a while. I wanted to post yesterday, but I was really busy with homework. Yes, I have homework over winter break. See, my genius Literature teacher, thinks it is best to give us close to no homework, while we are actually in school, and just pile it on when we get a break from school, so we can use our free time writing torturous essays. I wrote 5 diacritical journals yesterday, and still have a final essay to write, about a book we are reading. So now that I'm out of school, I'm trying to fit in fun, along with my mass amount of homework. So far, Lacey and I made a trip to Portland (she will tell you about that), and I am planning a cookie making party for this week, also, my brother is coming home today, so that may offer some entertainment, or at the very least, a burrito from La Conga. So, speaking of my brother, and not liking school, I bet you were wondering what I was doing that Lacey would describe as " the coolest thing ever". Well, my friends, a week from yesterday, my brother and I made our way down to Eugene for a Calvin Johnson show. Now the show did not start until 9:00, so we had a while to do nothing. We sat around Austin's house, watched some on-demand personal ads with his room mate, Dave, and debated on where to eat dinner. After naming off a lot of places, and a lot of undecided shrugs later, we decided to go for Chinese buffet. There was an interesting mix of people there, an assortment of loud white gangstas, and old ladys talking about jig-saw puzzles. The food was good. Then back to the house to meet up with a few people we were going to the show with. Before we left, we watched the Simpsons, and a Gogol Bordello Video. Then to the show we went. The show was at a small little studio called the Blue Room, and yes it was blue. We came in to see about 30 hip looking kids, and Calvin sitting in a barber stool in the lobby (it you could call it that). I paid my $5, had my wrist signed (this scared me), and sat down in a corner next to some hip looking kids talking about Pete and Pete. I promptly had a beer spilled on my knee, and helped the guy who dropped it, pick up broken glass (I think he turned out to be one the warm up acts). There were 3 acts before Calvin, some not too great. One act, Tender Forever, a K record band consisting of one French girl, was pretty enjoyable. At one point, she was on her laptop trying to fix the sound (it was really messed up), but it turned out it was only a cardboard cutout of a laptop, I don't think many people saw that. Then a quick break, I went out and bought Calvin's new CD from Calvin himself, and had it signed, and he taught me an easier way to get that sticky wrapper off the CD, I can't wait to use that, "Heres a little trick Calvin Johnson taught me". Then Calvin took the stage and we got a spot right up front sitting cross-legged (Calvin could have spit on me from where I was), a nice change from the very back where I could see nothing. Calvin played only his solo stuff, like usual, with only his deep, deep voice, and acoustic guitar. Slowly, person by person everyone sat down. Calvin is definitely the kind of thing you have to see sitting down, it's like a bunch of kids sitting on the floor listening to a very wise person tell very wise things during story time. This was fitting because Calvin is probably old enough to be most of the people's father. I really do enjoy small shows. After the show, we went back to Austin's house, watched a few episodes of home movies, and when to sleep. We woke up late Monday morning (so much for school), ran around, did some stuff, got some Indian food, brought some books to the Russian GTF office, packed up some stuff, and went home. I get to keep Austin's massive record/tape/CD collection for 6 months while he is in Russia. Well, there you go, the coolest thing ever and some other stuff.

Doing the Coolest thing EVER

Since it has been a while since pictures have shown up on this blog I think it is necessary that I put a lousy one on for sheer laughs..

…Nice.
SO while Cielle goes out tonight and hangs with her brother doing the coolest thing EVER, I am stuck caroling, and dreading school for the following day. Speaking of school, there is only a week left before the greatly anticipated winter break comes with its holiday joys and such! Speaking of joys, we cleaned our house today, mostly the windows, but that doesn't mean we didn't clean.
This weekend Claire and Fallon came over for a bit and after about a half hour the Muffin man song, got really old. So she and I just really chased my hyperactive neice around my house. I also cleaned up my room, made a cup of tea and sat in the dark listening to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and watching my suburban neighborhood light up with Christmas lights and bold decorations. It was wonderful, and afterword I went on the computer and drowned myself in technology. O how peace dissipates these days.
Happy week before kids.

Life Goals

Aside from wanting to see a midnight release showing of a major motion picture before I turn 20, I have, over the weekend, decided to make another life goal for myself and that is; to see a show On Ice before I die.

And I am sick and tired of helium voices!
